    Default Chest Protectors

Wow, it has been a long time since I posted here!

In Febrary I was able to pick up a barely used Tek-Vest chest protector at a bargain price. Never had used one before but with my new kidneys, I wanted them protected. Anyway, the person I normally ride with had a freak accident while riding last April and cracked a few ribs. Now he wants a chest protector as well. Any helpful suggestions? What are the best brands etc, what is best for off trail riding for someone between a intermediate and expert rider?

The Tek-Vest is really good and priced to match, I wear a 661 "Pressure Suit" (I think) and it has built in elbow and forearm protection that I like, and several of my buddies wear a regular motocross chest guard, those are as good as anything else and and can be picked up at any dirt bike shop and is probably cheeper and easier to find, there should be plenty of the motocross style on the used market too at used gear stores (we have a couple of those in Bend but this place is gear city). Pick what works for you.

Chest protection is just like a helmet, wear it every time.

I would recommend the tek-vest, they work great. You can get the cheaper plastic ones but I worry worry that in the cold they might be more brittle?
