Present heavy snow conditions are calling for patience on everyone's part.
You may have heard this on the news already, but just in case:
Due to what is turning out to be an above average snow year, snow plow
funding for snow parks is being severely strained across the State. We
have received notice from ODOT, Oregon Dept. of Transportation, that we
need to look at prioritizing what snow parks are plowed and how often or we
could exhaust the entire budget before winter's end. As we receive more
details on this critical access issue, we'll keep you posted. In the
meantime, you may want to think twice about heading to the snow parks
during periods of heavy snow when plowing priorities turn to keeping key
highways open. It's a good possibility you will find some snow parks
unplowed and impossible to get into, especially during heavy snow periods.
Be sure to carry traction devices, shovels, etc.; wheather on the hwys or
in the snow parks. Again, as we have more details on snow park plowing,
we'll keep you posted.
This past week has dropped up to several feet of new snow in some locations
of the Deschutes National Forest. Presently, many of the winter trails are
impassible due to deep, unconsolidated snow, buried signing and trail
markers. Trail conditions are challenging to say the least, if not
hazardous. In addition, avalanche danger has increased substantially; for

More unsettled weather with additional snow is in the forecast for this
weekend.
