What is the next big sled going to be? Any chance Arctic Cat will move from their current M chasis to something more like the Firecat? What does Polaris have coming down the pipeline?

09 no changes to Polris. Just 800 in short tracks. New chassi in 10

Some of the more interesting news came out of Ski-Doo recently. Their new 2 stroke E-TEC motors, using Evinrude outboard technology, with no smoke/smell. They are available now in a 600, and won an EPA clean air award. If they can make a strong 800 they would be on to something. Perhaps 2 Strokes allowed back in the Parks?

The military now requires all their stuff to run on JP8 for simplier logistics. BRP has supplied full line of 2 strokes that run on any liquid fuel with no loss of power..or smoke..Yes diesel works fine cold starts and all. The only difference is a switch added for heavy or light fuel and a special flash for the computer!

The new ski doo 600 is also Direct Injected as well. Makes for awesome power and great fuel milage. They pop off the fuel @ 500psi. Thats off the web site LOL.....

Isn't that supposed to take affect in 2009? I imagine it will have a "soft" introduction so the old can be consummed

The new HCR looks pretty cool. Glad to see Cat is finally going with the reverse engine rotation reverse technology.

The HCR (Hill Climb Racer) is a hill-climb competition/freestyle specialty sled, with a wider front-end and different suspension. Supposedly, they are only making 500 and 100 are being given to racers.

I think the M8 Sno Pro may still be positioned to be more of the all mountain/powder sled.

Cat has snuck in a bunch of changes this year on the M8's in general.

ACER (Arctic Cat Engine Reverse)
Power Claw track.
Telescopic steering column
Shorter/Tapered boards
New Slide Rails
Rear Suspension
Rear Bumper
LED Taillight
Snowflap
Narrower bars

A total weight savings of 22lbs (30 if you got the spring only Boss seat option).

The M8 appears to be lighter than all mountain sleds (other than the Rev XP) at 456 - 466 lbs, depending on model and track length.

The big questions:

1) Why not the Boss seat (or one like it) on all M8's? Shed 8 lbs on the rest of them.
2) Is Diamond Drive going to stick around? ;)

That being said, you could also go for some big bore sweetness (like Smashcat) and get the new M1000 - with similar weight savings.
