so as I am sitting here bored at work (not on the clock i might add) and browsing the forums and a question came to my nogan.

who all is hindered by the snow to work? I work at Parr Lumber which mean I am mainly on a forklift all day and when it snows or is icy we are pretty much shut down(bunch of pansies if you ask me, I will work all day in 4 inches of snow)

anyways who else cant work when the weather is bad. or who works outside in it?

I'm a firefighter. Snow and cold increases our workload a bunch. We have a lot more vehicle accidents, but usually not as severe with injuries, because sometimes people do slow down. The slick stuff makes things interesting, hauling the gurney to the ambulance with a 300+ lb patient can be a real challenge. And with really cold conditions, pumps freeze, hoses freeze, nozzles freeze, airbrakes freeze. We had 6 below the other morning, and had 3 engines with cold-related problems on one fire call. Joy. I'm going to start carrying a water extinguisher, but it will probably freeze too ;)

It used to affect me, but I started working from home in June. No more snow days for me. :( Unless the power/internet is out - but that could happen any time of the year.

Yeah but being your own boss you can choose weather you really want to freeze your bu tt off working or go sledding. I usually choose sledding since we are slow in the winter.

The thing that stinks is when the good spring riding is going on we are full bore 6-7 days a week working.
But have to make money when you can.

I hear ya! Our job is to make sure jets fly! So if that means being out in the cold all day to do so.........So be it. I would like to go more often myself but times are hard and getting harder!!! My Wife could be without a job in the next few months a head.......:( Snowmobiling will come to a sudden stop!
