I have never been at Hood, only Adams so far. The lower elevations that I have seen at Hood while taking the kids there is all hard packed.

Mt Hood is ok riding, mostly trails, and heavy forest, I recommend parking at Skyline , which is past Frog lake a few miles, They have a nice warming hut there.
