I did get out for an afternoon ride on Wednesday with my wife and 13 year old daughter.
We rode from Dutchman on two feet of snow up Cascade Lakes Hwy toward Elk Lake. The snow was light and fluffy. My sleds ran great! Each has seen a week or more in the garage for pre season maintenace.
Snow is mush now. Forest Service has posted no off road snowmobile travel signs at Dutchman.
stay off moon and dutchmans flat.its not open yet.read the signs!stupid newbies are going to screw it up for us.

He said they rode the highway-bed, not on the flats. The FS order specifically says that's OK.
Glad you guys had fun.

I think Dutchman is the only spot that is specifically closed to riding in the Deschutes NF.
Does anyone know any different?
Ben
I have included info from the Deschutes NF about riding in the Bachelor area below. The net of this is BE RESPONSIBLE, BE SAFE and DO NOT RIDE IN CLOSED AREAS. We need to be good stewards of the areas we ride in. Due to this, I am temporarily cancelling the contest for the Slednecks DVD to the first ride photos of the season. I will start it over when conditions are more favorable.

Thanks for your inquiry and it would be good to get this information out through the forum. I have someone headed up to Dutchman later today to get the latest conditions, but as it stands the Dutchman Flat area is closed to motorized use until further notice. The exception of course is the roads closed to hwy vehicles (hwy 46 and road 370) are open to winter motorized, snowmobiles/atvs. This closure does include trails 7 and 6 leading to the Moon Mt. area.
We have reports that there has been substantial riding on Dutchman Flat with evidence of riders hitting soil level and bringing brown up. The riding may not be too bad for some folks but the impacts (damage) to the resources, soil/vegetation are more of our concern as resource managers. Add to that a report that came in last night from local snowmobile club reps at our Trail User Group meeting that local motorsports shops are reporting brisk business on early season snomo damage/repairs. Some of this likely from riding in the closure areas. The weather for the next week is not looking in our favor as far as what snow remains, here's the report for Moon Mt. area:
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=44.05107684105027&lon=-121.66534423828125&site=pdt&smap=1&marine=0&unit=0&lg=en
We ask winter motorized users to please be patient and wait until snow conditions are deep and firm enough to minimize impacts.

We're cool Moon. Just wanted folks to know its OK to blast down the road-beds.
Never really understood people who were willing to mud up their machines.
Thanks Ben for posting the info from Deschutes NF.
Cheers All.
Maybe this storm that we'er not getting will drop enough snow on Revy to justify a trip. Finally some hope again.

My sled is just begging for me to take her out to the mountains. She got sooooo tired of looking at the garage wall that I had to move her. Now she is looking at the freezer door. She doesn't like that either. The whinning is starting to get REALLY LOUD. :(
it is starting to get expensive not being able to ride. I just keep doing mods to my sled because i am so bored.
Ran out of things to do to sled so I guess its time to do some remodeling to the trailer. I am going crazy.

It's has been snowing off/on, will be heading that way next week regardless on the conditions. Heard some peeps are riding today, so hope they will have some goods news of some sorts.
if there is enough snow we will probably do the same.

I am ready. Last weekend got the snowmobile uncovered, tuned up and running. Also took the new motor home on an overnight trip to be sure everything was in shape for my first snow trip in December. Ready and waiting!!
Start your engines... It sounds like the weather is changing. None too soon.:D

I sure hope so! Since I got back from Revy during Turkey weekend, I have been itching to ride, to the point I'll road ride if that what it takes.
Well I thought I was ready a few weeks ago, but I found some good deals on e-bay... Dammit. I've got to throw out my computer. It sounds like we're gonna ride in the next few days and my engine was half apart, plus some other details needed work. I worked from 9am to midnight yesterday, got it finished. My muscles are sore and I've got a headache..LoL. Feels like I partied too hard last night but without the fun. Sled looks alot different now and should make good power with the 'easy button'. I'll post pic's of it after our ride.
