View Full Version : Snow on the ground
It has been snowing in Central Oregon, at around 7000 feet. Here are some pictures of Bachelor, Broken Top, and Tumalo. Sorry there are so many clouds. This is as good as the weather has been all weekend.

Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 1:30 PM PDT on October 06, 2008
...Becoming windy and cold Tuesday and Tuesday night...
A strong cold front will bring windy conditions over portions of
south central and southeast Washington and eastern Oregon on
Tuesday. Sustained winds of 15 to 30 mph are expected...with some
locations receiving winds of 25 to 45 mph. The front will also
spread colder air east of the Cascades. Light snow is possible above
5000 feet with heavier accumulations over the higher peaks of the
Washington Cascades and Wallowa Mountains. On Tuesday night
temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to upper 30s as clouds and
winds decrease overnight. Some valley and basin locations may have
the first frost of the season.
...Winter weather over the mountains and valleys Thursday through Friday...
A Pacific low pressure system will move inland on Thursday and
will strengthen as it tracks into southeast Oregon Thursday night
and Friday. The system will usher in colder air east of the
Cascades...resulting in lowering snow levels. Snow can be expected
above 3500 feet with a mixture of rain and snow as low as 3000
feet. Snow accumulations will be light for most of the mountains
and valleys...yet there could be a few inches of snow in the
central and eastern Oregon mountains Thursday night and Friday.
This will be the first snow of the season for many of the mountain
and valley locations. Those traveling across south central and
southeast Washington and eastern Oregon should be prepared for
winter weather and plan accordingly.
Dusting of snow on the ground in Bend this morning, snow level at around 3000 feet.
