I know its early for plans next season however a trip like this takes some time to plan. We would like to trailer our sleds, go on a road trip and spend some time down south to ride over Christmas 2012. We are looking for an area that has lots of great areas to play in "back country" type powder and hills with out the crazy extreme white knuckle rides in. Experience levels on sleds are good, the want or desire to make our hearts explode with adrenaline not so much. As well as avalanche risk, not something we care to concern ourselves with as well, does a place even exist???? Care free sledding, slicing up the white stuff and enjoying the day??? We are hopeful.

If anyone knows of such areas please PM me. Just to be clear, we are not cowards are complete pussies when it comes to sledding its just the areas we have been going to avalanche risks are high to extreme at times and getting to the areas to have the perfect conditions can lead to cardiac arrest in places. Our group only goes where the "weakest" sledder is willing to go and its a great group.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. We will see who the ambassadors to their states are in this forum look forward the information as it arrives.

:D

Alpine Wy. is cool - and probably a little more straight south from you. You need to be concerned about avy danger anywhere you ride, but you can find a variety of terrain in the Alpine area. Cooke would be closer, but I am not as familiar with the area. Perhaps someone on here has some info.

Cook City MT is awesome. Tiny little town you won't start your truck until you leave. They have every kind of riding and tons of flat open areas with small to huge climbs all around you. You have to dip into Yellowstone park and that is a bonus. Best western was the most reasonably place to stay. There is a big lodge with good food and a bar. I know how the Canadians like to drink. Two or three sled rentals just in case which one of our group utilized. Good luck.

Thanks, Like I said avoiding avy risk is only possible in the flat lands of Saskatchewan and that isn't much fun. I'm just looking for an area that isn't so prone to high to extreme av warning or risk. Cook City sounds very interesting and will most certainly be giving it a look. I have a connection through my brother that does an extreme about and sledding and travel and has been to Yellowstone. I'm just waiting for him to return to civilization from a trip into the BC and sort work out so he can send me a bunch of info as well. As for good bars and Canadians drinking habits, its a hard life but someone has to live it.

McCall ID /MT Park and Stanly ID are all great places to go ... it would be a kick to take 10 days and make a big loop ....
