I'm Susie and I live in Hillsboro...until 29FEB. Then I'm in limbo until we buy a house in Creswell. My SO is Todd (aka Tedd). We are your SAWS reps here in Oregon.
I've been riding every winter since 1996. My current sled is a 04 RMK 800 151. I plan to pipe it, but that probably won't happen until next year. Right now she just has bar risers, Fox shocks and a kick-a$$ Boss seat. :) I like to boondock and am beginning to like a hill climb every now and again. Trails are only for getting to the good stuff. If I could stay off groomed trails all day, I'd be a happy-camper!
Most of all though...I just like to get out there and soak up some Oregon sunshine. Ya'all know how absent the sunshine is in the Willamette Valley in the winter! Sledding all winter helps keep me sane - and HAPPY!

Hi, I live in Imbler, Southeast of Tollgate. I regularly ride Tollgate and Catherine Creek (Flagstaff), and occasionally Salt Creek (Joseph) and annually a week in Idaho near McCall (Patty Flats, Boulder Lake).
I ride an 03 RMK 700. I am part of a snowmobiling family so I always have a group to ride with.
My experience is almost 100% Polaris. Owned/worked on anything from 86 to now. Cant affored to let the dealer do a whole lot, do it all myself.
I have for a season and a half now been playing with GPS and mapping some of my riding. If interested I would share some of my gpx files. Well, if I get around to organizing and cleaning them up anyway.

Hi,
Matt from Bend, Oregon here.
I'm a Snowmobile NOOB and a motorcycle rider who's now
officially HOOKED on sledding. :-)
It's all my WIFE'S FAULT too. She hooked up with some
friends who took us snowmobiling up at Paulina Lake in
Central Oregon. Next thing you know, I'm buying 2
new-to-me snowmobiles.
A 1999 Polaris RMK 700
And a 1996 Polaris Indy 500
The RMK is mine and it's fun, but I'm finding myself
riding the little Indy 500 a lot. I like it because it
only has 1 inch lugs/paddles and I can flat-track the
heck out of it and pass people on the insides of corners
totally sideways. IT'S NUTS!
Anyway.
I just wanted to introduce myself. :-)
hey guys, the name is Jared. I live in Keizer, and a member of the Mt. Jefferson club.
this is my thirdish season riding. sledding is a family affair for me. My wife and in-laws got me into it and i am hooked. We ride mainly at Hoodoo, but try to get down to Diamond lake atleast once a year.
I ride a 06 Polaris 600HO RMK 144 track. Haven't done much to it just a can and some apperance stuff, but I have plans for it. I must say I love my sled. I rode quads for years at the dunes, and I can honestly say I enjoy sledding so much more. The people are better, season is usually longer, and not to mention no sand in places I dont want it to be.
glad to see a strictly Oregon site. Hope that it gets going and becomes very useful, and even find some new people to ride with.

Hi,
This is a pretty great idea you have here. My name is Kim and I am the secretary of the Rogue Snowmobilers. I also try to keep our website new and exciting. We have a forum on our website but I find myself "talking to myself" quite often on it. We use it for information only. You can visit the website at www.roguesnowmobilers.com and check it out. I am going to let our club members know that this forum exists.
If anyone is every down in our area, we try to keep an up to date grooming page so you know what to expect. If you need any advise about where to ride in our area, give any one of our board members a call and they can help you out. Their contact information is on the website.
By the way....hats off to the Klamath club for hosting an excellent convention last week!!!

Hey all, my name is Toby. I live in Hermiston, but was born and raised in Prairie City and Baker City Or. I'm a proud daddy of two girls, Makaila 10yrs. and Gracie 1 month.
I've been riding seriosly for about 6 years. My sled of choice is an 04' 900 Cat that rips!
We ride Halfway, Tollgate and Olive Lake/Vinegar regularly. I love climbing and boondocking.
I love Archery hunting and fishing almost as much as sleddin'!
I'm very excited about this site and hope that it really takes off. I love meeting people in my area that love to sled as much as me and would love to try out some new stuff!
Welcome all!
Look around the site, post often, share with friends. Be sure to check out the calendar, top right of the site, and add any events you know of that aren't already on there.
Let's see some photos once people can get out.
Look forward to chatting with you!

Just my brother, friends, WIFE, etc. ;-)
I look forward to riding this weekend.
I'd like to go over the top of Kwohl Butte/Sheridan Mtn
and then down to Elk Lake for a burger and beer.

Matt - good luck getting there this weekend! We tried to reach Kwoll on 12/31 and the snow was too deep then...and the trails were ungroomed as well. With the snow we have now, it'll be even more of challenge to get anywhere near either shelter!! Take pics!!
Also near Sheridan, there are large geothermal holes all over the place. Don't fall into one....there is no snow at the bottom of them and they can come up on you unexpectedly. I can't remember what the proper name is for it, but the earth generates heat in spots and snow does not cover it. So, the warmth just creates this big hole in the snow pack. SCARY!!

Hi OregonGirl,
Thanks for the info on Kwohl Butte being full of snow.
Maybe I'll skip that and do some trails over to Elk Lake.
I hear ya about the Geothermal holes on Sheridan.
I've seen 'em and they're SCARY! You don't want to
fall into one... it's heat from HOT MAGMA!!!

Hello my name is Dan. I grew up riding sleds with my dad in north central Washington where we lived. I started my wife about 4 years ago and bought her a new sled last year. I bought my new sled this year so we now have an '07 Crossfire 6 and an '08 M-8. Of course I had to put an SLP pipe and can with an attitude fuel box and high flow air intake on it. I have also had some clutch work done so it really screams! I mainly ride in the Mt. Hood area but I get up to Yakima a couple of times a year and I go to McCall Idaho for a week too. I live in Milwaukie and have a couple of kids that love to ride with mom and dad. I am always looking for people to ride with and new places to go!

One of the most viewed posts on H2Oregon is a request for riding parnters. As we increase membership it should be easy to meet new people and get info on riding areas across the state - this is one of the main reasons H2Oregon exists.

I'm from Klamath falls, and have enjoyed snowmobiling since 1998. A converted sandduner..only during the winter! The Chiloquin Ridge Riders have conspired to keep me cheif officer for awhile now, our current project is a snow shelter at Annie Creek snow park. My wife and riding partner has had a spinal injury and no longer rides. We have 4 grown kids we are proud of and one grandchild. We love our home but use any excuse to be in our forests! And yes oregon girl we are both members of saws!

Hi SumpterSam,
I've never ridden the dirt trails out there.
Farthest East I've gone so far is Brother's Oregon
for gas and grub.
Looks like it would take about 2 1/2 hours to drive
out there. Is it worth it? :-)

Hi, I'm from Bend and my wife and I love to ride. We ride all the areas and get to Diamond lake a few times a year.
We also like to got to Stanley Idaho once a year if we can afford it. We took a couple of years off thinking we wanted to go south for the winter but we just like sledding too much so we bought two more sleds.
I like the idea of an oregon forum. Sometimes I get tired of all the bad news about all the sleds and the macho talk.
We ride hard but we're more layed back about it. We also have quads and like to ride them in the summer. Fish, hunt and all the other red neck stuff too. Thanks for starting this forum.

Al here in Halfway.
Well lets see I've been riding sense ???? anyway it was a long time ago I think around 1971. I guess that makes me an old fart.
Current sled is an Cat M1000 SP but I haven't been out much this year - yet. I've been plowing snow almost everyday just to get/leave home and I twisted my knee pretty bad in early January so I've been taking it easy.
With all the snow (its almost too much at times) this year I'm looking forward to some great spring riding.
Come on over to Halfway as we have the best snow in Oregon. He! He!

Hello fellow sledders,
Thank you to my beautiful girlfriend/SO/partner Oregongirl, my passion is sledding(second to her of course). Been riding for the last three years and have joined the land use fight to be able to continue this passion for years to come.
Enjoy riding the cascades, halfway, tollgate, mt. baker, diamond lake, and want to expand those areas as much as I can. Always looking for new people to ride with, so look us up.
Bruce from Sprague River here...We have a loose nit group of about 10 of us (all couples 50+) that ride togather anywhere from Medicine lake to Diamond lake mostly boondocking. Ride Swan a lot as it's out our back door, this year we can ride out of the ranch no problem as well. It's nice to have a local forum, mayby hook up with someone and see some new country one day.

Hello all,
Linda from Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Started riding snowmobile in High School while I lived in Meacham Oregon. Still riding today! I have a 08 600 RMk Shift, with all the SLP goodies that I just got about a month ago. We ride up at Tollgate/Catherine Creek/Halfway, and make two trips to other snowmobiling areas. This Year we went to Elk City IDaho, and Priest Lake Idaho. Then of course we went to McCall for New Years.
During the off season we are on the atv's & dirtbikes in Ukiah, Oregon Coast, and Heppner. Then we are off again on to white water rafting, we have floated the Grande Rhonde, Deschutes, Rogue, all of Salmon Rivers. So we don't stay home very much, Oregon has to much to offer and to enjoy with her beauty.

Dont currently have a sled, although it hasnt stopped me from riding. I have rode steady for 5 years now and love it. I love the outdoor and anything to do with them. I also am a photographer.

Howdy,
My name is Brian. I started riding about 1972 (just a kid), my wife started riding before that. Our parents still ride also. We absolutely hate it, worst recreation activity ever invented. Our 3 kids all ride. they hate it to. So we only ride every weekend, sometimes both days, and sometimes during the week. only when the kids dont have school for some holiday or school in service day or teacher prep day or whatever reason the school can muster up to not have school. We usually take a winter vacation and head somewhere else to ride for a few days. Would probably ride more if it wasnt for that four letter word....Work. that and the fact I hate snowmobiles... LOL
P.S.
Had the priviledge of riding with BansheeAl...GREAT GUY ! Al tell Ellen we said HI..

Okay, I'm in. I'm another Susie and from my user name you can probably safely assume where I ride. This year I bought a 2005 600 Switchback that I am absolutely in LOVE with!! I sold my older Indy 500 to my soon to be daughter in law. If you go to the Diamond Lake website and scroll down to the family snowmobiling photo, you'll see most of my family in front of a cabin over New Years weekend. My one year old grandson had his first ride that weekend!
Nice to meet you all!

Welcome!! I had to immediately go over and look at the picture. It's nice except you can't really see anyone!! Looks and sounds like you had a great time!!
I like riding around the Diamond Lake area except I don't like to park there. It's either too crowded or too icy. I prefer Hamaker and then riding over!

I know, you really have to zoom in to see any detail. Parking is terrible at Diamond Lake! We leave our sleds in storage up there and just have to worry about room for our truck.
Moved to Corvallis about 12 years ago. Family was starting so the riding has been very limited. Started riding a lot more last year and hope for more this year. Mostly been up HooDoo and some back in Montana. Been riding off and on for 30yrs.
Came from Montana, mostly Butte-Missoula area. Hope to be back up there in the next 10yrs or less.
Let it snow:D

Welcome DJ and congrats on the first intro of the 08/09 season!

Thanks
You would think a guy going on 50 wouldn't get that stoked about winter:cool:
I actually went in my trailer and sat on my sled the other day. I'll never grow up:o (as much as my wife would like me too).

Wanna bet? ;)
Welcome to Oregon, how about those Beavs against USC??
I bet even the Duck fans appreciated that game! :D
I am in Southern Oregon (Kfalls) and ride a lot on Pelican, Brown, Medicine Lake, Annie Creek, Chemult, Diamond Lake, Quartz, Paulina (not often). With my strange days off (I'm a fireguy) it's easy to get out in the middle of the week and ride with NO one else around. The family is on and off about snowmobiles, they are not addicted like I am. I just don't understand that at all. Kids these days.
Thanks BCDan
I drove by the stadium the day of the game and there was a guy selling tickets and i thought Hmmmmm i would love to go. But it was a school night for the kids and my wife would complain about that, besides the beavers were going to get there butts kicked. Wrong, man i really wish i would have gone. Got to listen to the first half and watch the second on tv.
My son will be 13 in a couple of weeks and has been riding a sled for two years now. I just stick to the groomed trails with him. He loves riding and wants the biggest baddest sled out there. That's not going to happen, however he is on my old wildcat 700 which is a bit much for him. I wouldn't let him ride it but he is pretty cautious and at 6 foot is big enough. Would really like to get him a M6 but HP is really being wish washy up here so no new toys right now:mad:. My daughter (in the avatar) is 6 and i think she is going to be the out of control one. She runs around the yard on an 120 with wheels on the front and it's a constant, can you make it faster dad. That would be a NO. LOL

Thanks, I missed the last Mt Jefferson work party. We were seeing the Mother-in-law in Vegas. I broke even so i consider that a win :). I should be at the next meeting, I need to pick up a snow park permit. Hope the club makes some money off those. Looks like were getting some snow up at Hoo Doo as I type. Could be a good year.

New guy here! Just turned 31 this summer and try to get out of town as often as we can, weather it's off roading in Moab,Utah or the Rubicon in California or just riding quads at the dunes I've been riding around with my parents since before I can remember pretty much exclusively around the Crescent lake area, My Grandparents bought some property just past the crescent lake junction and put in a single wide cabin somewhere in the early 70's. Growing up I always loved the 1st start up of the old sleds-had to use lots of starting fluid, then it took awhile for the smoke to clear out! we had some scorpion whips and early yamahas even an old Rupp nitro! My family got out of sledding awhile back but I've been slowly getting back into it. I inherited two old Yami's, a PR440 that had a torque converter and a big monster GP643. I got pretty good at fixing things back then! A few years ago I bought some old 440 exciters from our neighbor then moved up to a 97 Polaris XLT/RMK which I had a ball on until the the motor blew- then got another XLT and a newer 700 RMK which started really getting me hooked- Now I see other hobbies being put off all year to save up for the sledding, I went over to Bend in August "in 104deg temps" and picked up a new little Phazer MTX, I know alot of people are going to out run me while I'm on it but it was just too much bang for the buck to turn down. I consider my self an extremely aggressive rider and can't back down from a good climb or race but the Phazer I think will keep me entertained in the deep at lower speeds. Plus I still have the 700 if I feel a little need for speed. BTW I've only hit one tree hard enough to do any real damage, which was around 70mph in some side powder, back side of cresent. It bent my entire sled in about a 30deg angle and put me out of riding the rest of that season-broken ribs-dislocated shoulder and messed up my new helmet along with making my good sled a good parts sled! It hasn't really slowed me down but sure seemed to make me a smarter rider, I sure look at things from a different angle than I used to. Please don't let any of that turn you away from riding with me though. I enjoy good company just as much as I enjoy a good competition. I also always try to be the first person to help dig other peoples sleds out because I know sooner than later I'll need help too!

Hello! I am from Anchorage, Alaska. The reason I joined this site is to gather more information about snowmobiling in Oregon. I am thinking about moving in a couple years, but my boyfriend wants to move where he can still go snowmobiling. Has anyone on here ever been to Alaska and can compare the snowmobiling for there and Oregon? Also, where is a good place to live in Oregon where you can drive to go snowmobiling and is a decent size city? Thanks

Yes Bend Oregon is a good location your surround around just about everything there and you are in the central of Oregon. There is a variety of jobs there too, but I heard the cost of living is high.
I live in Milton-Freewater (Eastern Oregon) and we ride the Blue Mountians (Tollgate, Ukiah, Bluewood) and then on the other side of the mountain (1.5 hour drive) we ride Catherine creek, Anthony Lakes, Granite area, then on too Halfway.
My girlfriend lived in Alaska and says it's alot different up there compared to here. You guys have more open areas don't you? I have seen pics up there from soem gals that I have met thru the internet.

We used to park a big motor home along with 100's of others on Big Lake and watch the crazies race by.
Roseburg is a city of about 20,000 people but we are right on the I-5 corridor so we are 1 hour 15 minutes away from riding and the same amount of time away from the coast. Eugene is about an hour away and Portland 3 hours.
Best of luck in your decision to move!
Schisler..welcome to Oregon when you come and to H2. I like to experience the outdoors in every way possible, I can live anywhere I want. I have no plans for leaving Klamath Falls anytime soon, I have way to much left to explore!
I grew up in Utah riding trails. My first sled was a Polaris 96' XLT the three cylinder. I loved it and it was a fast sled in its day. But sled years are similar to dog years. I am still a big Polaris fan but I am currently M8 shopping. In the meanwhile I am riding a company Skidoo 800 Xp. I am steadily moving from trails to Steep and Deep back country riding. In fact I am taking a little class from Amber Holt (of 509 and other sledding movie fame) soon. She is a heck of a nice person. Perhaps She can get me powder ready.
I am looking forward to the future of the sport, I love every min of it and I have been impressed with the caliber of people involved it it. Really it is not that big of a world especially in sledding.
I work for Klim and I am really proud of the company, their products and ethics. Look forward to learning from you enthusiasts in Oregon ( a state I love).
Welcome Mcride! When you come on out to Oregon to test product I wear a size 11 1/2 boot..:) Seriously clubs where ever you are going will be glad to show you powder at your skill level..:D

Howdy. I'm Kevin, live just outside Baker and generally (almost always) ride out of the barn up the Elkhorns. Start at 3,400 ft and can be 6,500 in about 15 minutes. Sometimes I have to trailer them about 2 miles first... hate that.
I've been riding about 8 years on and off (on when they run, off when they, and I, are broke). Started with an early 90's 600rmk?? and a 94? Indy Sport. Still have the Sport (can't kill it), but the old tripple stranded me a few too many times. Got a 2000 ZR700 that had been long-tracked (didn't know what a zr was, didn't care... it looked cool) and tried the past three years to keep it running and stay on top of it. Picked up a 2000 Yam 700 MM a few weeks ago and LOVE IT, brings a whole new perspective to sledding. Also have an older Phazer and Enticer (and the Sport) for wife and kids.
Have never been on a groomed trail. Often ride beyond my ability therefore am becoming a dig out artist (and often in a t-shirt, ha!). Ride for fun, necessity (wireless internet transmission site), and pursuing predators (mountain lions, coyotes). I don't often see other riders, but I'm the only one so far packing a rifle over my back and/or a .45 on my hip. HA!
On heavy snow years (like this one looks to be) have ridden LookOut Mnt. area as well. Little bit on Eagle Creek, and a little bit around Anthony. Havn't ever trailered to Sumpter, but have almost gotten there via Elkhorn Ridge/Section 6 a few times (almost got lost in a blizzard up on top last year, couldn't see, boulder patches, cornices, deep and steep to the left and right... havn't tried that again... yet). Also go up Pine Cr. a few times a year.
Mechanically I'm very much a novice and will try not to ask too many dumb questions. Riding skill... like I already said... off trail until off sled!! But I have done an arial double cartwheel with a 1.5 twist and backflop, off my sled like a pommelhorse (hit a stump).
Welcome, I bet a lot of us would like to ride along judt for the adventure!
welcome welcome welcome.... i love seeing new members sign up for our always expanding community..... hope you enjoy H2

I fished for three days in Sitka several years ago. Let me rephrase that, I threw up for three days in Sitka several years ago. However when i was on land and feeling better all i could think about was how cool snowmobiling there would be. Talk about some beautiful country.

Hi everyone;
My name is Tim and I live just West of Salem. We ride mainly on Mt. Adams and Crecent. I am lucky enough to not have to work in the winter so that leaves nothing but time to sled. I have raced dirt track with cars, motocrossed and flat tracked 3 wheelers, flat tracked quads, autocrossed cars and to me ridding a sled is by far the best. I live on the forums when I am not ridding (because this is my life). I hope to ride with alot of you this winter. I can't believe that this site existed so long with out finding it sooner. Sure glad I did. We should have a H2Oregon get together.
See you in the mountains,

I live in Central Point and have six kids. We love to play in the snow and ride till we run out of fuel. I don't belong to any clubs as of yet but I'm interested in getting involved and seeing what is out there. So thanks for looking and be safe in what ever you do.
6 kids..wow! Thats a lot of machines to keep running! We have a list of Southern Oregon clubs in another section, they all have familys that ride. The Rogue Snowmobilers would be closest to where you live, Snowlover another on line member can give you details!
Hello everyone,
We live outside of Bend near Tumalo. My wife and I have rented machines a few times and decided to take the plunge this year. We picked up a couple used Polaris and have been having a blast. We have a 3 year old daughter who I'm sure will be hooked eventually too.
As a kid, my Grandparents had a cabin up Skyliner, and I have great memories of the winters spent up there snowmobiling. Mind you, that was the early 70's, and machines have come a long way to say the least.
Thanks to everyone for the information we are able to take from the website.

Hello all
My name is Pete Wilson I am 32 yrs old and have been riding snowmobiles for almost 30 years. I live in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area. I am married with (1) daughter and another girl on the way. So that means that the wife doesn't get to ride this year. I am somewhat new to the area, I am a central Washington transplant. I have done most of my riding in the central WA area this year. I am looking for someone to show me some good snowmobiling in the area close to Portland. I ride a 2008 Yamaha FX Nytro MTX and looking for some good boondocking.

Okay, so now that Ben know's me I suppose I will try to be more active on the computer and in posting! My name is Scott and I have been sledding for some 20 plus years! I started in college by guiding silly "dinner" tours for people in Crested Butte colorado! I was hooked! The machinery has come so far it is amazing! I am currently waiting for my new M1000 Sno Pro 162 to get here and then have all the goodies and turbo put on it! I have lived in Central Oregon (Powell Butte to be exact) for 10 years! I have not riden too much while here but now plan to get back into it full time! I basically like the tree's and boondocking! I also am an avid quad rider (mountains and dunes) and club race road bikes in AFM and Master of the Mountain series'!! Lastly, I am a firm believer in public land's access FOR ALL user's and am going to start plying my limited brain power towards that end! That's about it! I look forward to being more active on here in the future!
Hello all. I am in Ne Portland and just bought a 2009 M8 153. I have been out of snowmobiling for about 6 years now and couldnt take it anymore. I know absolutly nobody who rides around here. I am hoping that some people will chime in so we can hook up and ride. I am interested in Mt Adams and St Helens. I am not much into trail riding. I did got to Skyline last week for a break in ride. That is about as much trail riding as I want to do for the rest of the year. If anyone is in Portland or near to portland give me a shout for a ride!!!!

Hello,
I am John, been a lurker for quite sometime and finally decided to join. I live in Brownsville and run cattle, raise hay, and have a custom baling operation with my family. I really enjoy snowmobiling, kinda gives me a chance to take my mind off farming for a little while. I have been riding for seven years, all on arctic cats. I ride mainly the bachelor area, whether it be from three creeks or wanoga, although I have ridden Halfway twice this year met some great people and really enjoy that area, just wish it wasn't so far away. Climbing, boondocking, carving are main riding enjoyments, try to not ride the trails anymore than necessary.

I live in Central Point and have six kids. We love to play in the snow and ride till we run out of fuel. I don't belong to any clubs as of yet but I'm interested in getting involved and seeing what is out there. So thanks for looking and be safe in what ever you do.
Welcome to everyone!!!
Mark - I just read your post...don't know how I missed it for so long....I will send you a PM about an event our club is having on Saturday - our last for the year and hope you will join our club!!
I'm John from Keizer. I'm all about the deep. Spent most of last year big blocking my M7, which didn't go so well. Never even got to use the NOS. Oh, but when she was running, it was epic. And I can now rebuild an M sled in a snow storm at night, so that's good I suppose. (So can my 12 year old son, he got plenty of opportunities to see the inner workings of a motor. :) Hopefully we got her dialed in for this year.
I am heavily involved in local winter Search and Rescue, and LOVE getting called out. Please get lost, way back in the woods, high up in the mountains, where no one can get to you. I'll be your new best friend.
I ride mostly with Master and a girl named Mike both of whom I met on another sled forum.
I can ride most any day, if the snow is flying, and the pass is closed, I'm heading up the mountain.
Welcome Eludnu, I can't wait for the snow to start. My son is 14 and really is into riding. He's pretty cautious which I have not problems with. Hope to see you on the mountain (hopefully not to find me)

Welcome Samurai!! Selling your sled - good idea/bad idea?? Well, if you had short track, then selling it in Ontario was probably a good idea - better market for it there and all. :) Now you need to buy something longer...for riding in the mountains! YEAH!!! :p

Welcome to the site Pac Man. I have (2) cousins who have cabins in there.

I'm not sure about the slowing down part of that statement. I've seen Gary on his sled - if that's slower than a few years ago......well, he should have been wearing a carbon fiber snow suit!! LOL!!

Alright, I am finally introducing myself. I really thought I did this last spring, but I must have forgotten. So here goes!
Hello everyone, my name is Kristy. I am entering into my 3rd season of snowmobiling. I currently ride an Arctic Cat 600, but I am dreaming of something bigger! (maybe next year) I am hoping to get a lot of riding in this year, and already have 3 trips planned. I ride with rangerider and my husband (can't remember if he is registered on here or not), but this year I am taking 2trips without the guys, one to Canada and one to Halfway.
Here is to a good year!

Good lookin sled.... And Welcome Aboard.
I guess it's time to chime in... I'm Maury from Battle Ground and my family has had a cabin at Crescent Lake since 1964. The first sled I rode there was a 1965 Fox Trac when I was about 5. I didn't ride a "modern sled" until 1996 when PacMan and I rented sleds from Portland and took them to Crescent Lake for the weekend. I've owned a sled since! My wife and kids ride and we hang at our cabin whenever possible. Closer to my home, I like to ride at Adams.

My fleet used to include those same two Yammi. I LOVED riding that Phazer Mtn Lite!!! It was actually my father-in-laws, but he was out of state one winter and let me ride it that season. It was a big step up from my 96 Vmax. I never spent much time on the MM. I loved the 2-stroke Yamahas. My first two sleds were Yammi's.

Well the latest news and things going on around here just made me want to get in on the action.
Avalanche's, Skiers with Guns, and Russian Ice Fishermen oh My!
I try really hard to stay up with what goes on around here, but it's tough even if you live at the lake.
I have the resort open on Weekends and it's a great place to stop and warm up after a long day on the mountains and trails.
If you have not heard about the resort being open then here's the scoop.
We are open on weekends and have a limited number of cabins and RV sites available.
The trail from the Great meadow is now groomed into the resort and we will try to keep it that way.
If you have questions or concerns about anything related to the lake, trails or the resort Just ask or let me know and I am happy to help.
I run lake of the Woods resort.
I Groom trails for the Klamath Snowmobile Club and I am a volunteer for the Rocky Point Fire Department.

Forgive me for my negative assumptions, and welcome to the site! You may even consider contacting "Ben" our site owner and negotiating some type of sponsorship in exchange for advertising, assuming (again) that he even does that type of thing.

Glad to find this site ~ am hopeful it will be a resource for us!
We have a cabin several miles from the lake. Sled in the winter, drown corn in the summer trying to catch kokenee.
Got a ride in the day after New Years (around the lake) and had a great time. Came across two Klamath County deputies patroling the trails near Crescent Lake Lodge. I've sledded the area since 1969 and never seen patrols. I told them we were glad to see them out there. They said not everyone feels that way. I told him "I know, that's why we're glad to see them!" They said they intend to continue and expand the patrols.

Hey everybody. I met Ben on another site he told me about the site, so I thought I would check it out.
I am waiting for a response from him about putting some of my builds on here.
Ben seams like a great guy, so it would stand to reason that his site would be equally great.
I own a custom shock/snowmobile shop called A-MAIZE-ING KUSTOMS in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I do a lot of shocks for mountain sleds, trail sleds and I also do race sleds.
I do this stuff part-time, but it is a passion. It pays for my 'special' projects, and keeps the wife happy. LOL. Happy wife, happy life..... I work for Toyota factory doing extended warranty claims [no I don't have anything to do with any of the recalls. :) ]. That is my full-time job.
I used to ride with Team Summit before a new owner took over this year. I also consider Big John from Sled Head Racing, and Jim Phelan from Team Thunderstruck friends of mine. Jim Phelan, Mark Messinbrink and I played a very good joke on Jimmy Blaze at Hay Days several years, too. Jim has it on film. I'll have to tell you about it some time.....

It's been great checking out this forum! We're excited to be a part of it. We live in Bend. I (Becky) grew up in Bend and have been riding here my whole life, in the past 10 years I learned how to ditch the trail and ride everywhere else thanks to the man in the family! :) We both volunteer for Deschutes County Search & Rescue and just started a backcountry snowmobile team this winter. My sled is an '03 Polaris 800 SKS set up as an RMK, pipe, can, long track, risers, lefty - the usual must haves. Joey has an '05 900 RMK built to a 975 I think the only thing "stock" on it is the seat, though one of the cylinder sleeves broke last February so the motor still sits in a box in the garage :(! Luckily he gets to ride every weekend guiding out of Wanoga and with SAR. When both sleds are up and riding we ride 2-3 days a week, this year more like 1 or 2. Our 9 year old son rides a Yamaha Sno-Scoot, but we're looking to upgrade him to a 340 or 440. In the right conditions he rips it up following us everywhere we go. Looking forward to sharing info with all of you!! Happy boondocking!!
Wowsa, great peeps to have aboard... welcome new friends!

We'll probably make it a yearly trip. I'm going to bring it up at our next club meeting also. Seemed very family friendly. We have quite a few members with family that I think would enjoy it. (Mt. Hood Snowmobule Club):D

I just can't believe someone would be so onory as to tease a broken guy!
We had fun too! Except the old broken guy couldn't play, had to stay in the cabin and drink up all the good wine. Happy Birthday !!!:)

My name is Frank Noe . I do not own a sled . But a 2moto snow bike . So if you want me off I will understand . But I do have one ski and one track . And the state of oregon is going to be calling me a Snow mobile . I live Oregon City and work for Beaverton Motorcycles . Currently putting together the first 2moto race in Oregon at Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood April 10th . The chair lift will be running so you can watch the race from above . Should be exciting.
Just got back from doing so riding at hoodoo cresent lake Resort . Went up to sumit Lake and back . awesome time.... More to follow about that.

Uh-oh....here comes trouble!!! :D
j/k.....Frank is a good guy, so please don't let the fact that he is a one-ski dude jade your opinion of him.
So, Beaverton Motorcycles, eh? No more Beaverton Honda Yahama??
Welcome, Frank! One ski or two, the snow is addicting!!
Not only are you welcome, but I created a Snow Bike forum for discussion specific to 2Moto stuff, etc. I am looking forward to learning more about them. Bring your friends.

I am Van. Bend is home for us. I ride a 2 up Yamaha which is great until it gets stuck- boy is it heavy. I ride trails and believe that snowmobiling gives you access to the most glorious panaramaic views and scenery. My wife rides a Polaris and we go out when ever our schedule allows. Am waiting to get the kids and Grandkids here ,during the sled season, so that I can get them hooked on snowmobiling.

I am Peter, hailing from the North of Sweden were the sun always shine and the snow is deep and fluffy.
My kind of sledding is doone in the woods and mountains, mostly trailbraking searching for the lose and deep, nowadays on an BRP Lynx XU "Commander" 600 SDI, next year with the 600 Etec engine, i have been widetracked the last 10 years but the previous years i have been running all kinds of "narrowtracked" sleds, mostly with a Rotax under the hood.

Welcome Peter, it's good to hear from someone from the other side of the world. I'd be interested in hearing about your riding experience (and pictures) from Sweden once the winter sets in.
Hey all, names Rich and I live in Bend. 2010/2011 will be my third season riding and while I still consider myself to be a bit of a newbie but I'm already into my second sled. My first sled was an 01 Skidoo 700 Summit 144 track, that was a great sled and was more sled than I was rider for sure but I still wanted to move up to more current technology so... last season I picked up an 06 Doo Rev 800 151 with some suspension and performance goodies. The REV was in need of an engine rebuild so I spent the first half of 09/2010 riding the 700 and wrenching on the 800 but once the 800 was up and runnin I sold the 700 to a friend and now just LOVE the REV (whaaa-Hooooo, what a blast!). Anyway, I was just starting to feel like I can ride the thing properly at the end of last season so I'm really looking forward to this next year. I pretty much get off trail as soon as I can for boondockin and a little hill climbing. I prefer the trees and would rather spend a day in the trees than racing up a hill but if there's something like Moon Mtn or Tumalo bowl staring me in the face I'll take a run of three at it.
So far I've only been out of Wanoga and Dutchman parks here in Bend and while the terraine is good the geographic region has been small. I have a good (but small) group of guys that I ride with (includes Clutch man) and I hope to make it to other areas and meet more people this coming season (Diamond Lake and areas South and East of Bend are on my short list of places to go). I also did my first night ride last season and that was the best ride of the whole year, oh-my-god what a good time that was! My short list also includes an Avi class and beacon.
Currently waiting for snow!

Hi all,
My name is Greg and I live outside of Molalla. Ive been riding motorcycles and quads for almost 20 years and recently discovered my winter riding passion about 5 years ago. Since then Ive slowly been upgrading my sleds as my abilities and budget allow. I love off trail riding and hillclimbs although the groomed trails are great for the family.
Welcome Dualmoto... Many of us are also motorcycle fanatic's as well, so we have more than sled's in common. I'm sure you can discuss some of that in the stuck sled portion of this forum when you have the hankerin' in the off season (like now, since we can't ride quite yet!).
I'm certain that you'll enjoy this site, and its members.
Kilroy
There's also a somewhat new forum just above stuck sled for general OHV chat as well. We can expand that if it becomes popular.

Hey guys; I'm Ken from Bend, Oregon....a "new" Noob that doesn't have a sled yet. I'm faced with a big decision. I'm 56 years seasoned, and pretty much experienced in dirt riding quads; bikes, and buggy's; but have never ridden a sled. I want to get something that my wife can join me occasionally without needing to buy a Cadillac 2 up sled. Without having any experience; I'm wondering if an added seat on a performance trail SkiDoo will do fine for riding double? My wife doesn't really want her own sled....YET; but I want to be able to also shred deeper snow single riding. I'm not aware of any 2 up sleds that can perform like a Doo or an RMK or Apex. I need some guidance before shelling out 10K on a new sled. Thanks!

i am not sure but... i think a crossover would be good but i don't know anything about double ups you are kinda at a bad situation for both of those things. If i was you i would say tough luck for u and get a mountain sled and get her a sled to that can go SOME of the places u can go.There is so much more that u can do on a mtn sled.

My name is Ken, I just moved back "home" to Southern Oregon after serving 23 years in the Air Force. Fortunately, my last assignment was Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, so snowmachining is a passion of mine now! Have ridden at Diamond lake a couple times when I was stationed in Bend, OR as a recruiter, we absolutely LOVED it! Brought a few sleds home with us, a 02 Yamaha Mountain max 700, 02 Ski-doo MXZ 800, 05 and 06 Polaris trail touring dlx 550's 2-ups and an 02 Polaris 600 XCSP. We are planning on heading up to Bailey on Monday, how has the snow been?
Welcome to the forum, from a fellow Airman. There are several of us on here from Kingsley Field. I served at Kulis (176th Aerial Port Flight) for several years, and I believe that a few more served up at Elmendorf when they had the F-15's up there. I'll have 25 years this April (9 USMC & 16 in USAF). I went to high school in Sitka, and my entire family is somewhere between the Wasilla and 'slowdatna' area. I hope to get the chance to do some riding with you this winter. Another 700MM (and fellow Airman) guy who is on here is Ford428CJ and we call him Wes. We're doing a road ride up Medicine Lake in the morning, but I suppose it's too late for the coordination on that.
Feel free to contact anytime via PM. See you around!

Always nice to have a new person on here. Welcome and thank you for your service.

All this Alaska talk is making me homesick! I was born in Sitka and lived in Anchorage until I was 15 and my family moved to Eastern Oregon to get away from the long winters. I have a brother who lives in Deadwood and was just here for a visit. Makes me want to go back for a visit!

I rode the Greys River last spring during the hillclimb. We rode out to Blind Bull and then hit the area over the bridge to the left on the way out (sorry can't remember the name). It was incredible. We ran into Rasmussen and Burandt, who were filming Schooled Again. I think this may have been the day he ripped his ski off in the film.
Welcome Ken and thank you for your service. So many people here that spent time in alaska. I also am from there, grew up in anchorage in the 70s and 80s. I rode my first sled up there oh so many years ago.

I have a snowmachine. It used to be red. Now its black and grey like Me. Wish it wasn't so heavy. My friends won't help if I get stuck cuz they don't like to walk uphill.
It must be a Yamiha?

Hello Everyone! My name is Kent Nichols and I live in Moscow Idaho. I work as an Automotive Supervisor for UPS and am the Owner/Editor of Whiteout Magazine. WHAT? Haven't heard of Whiteout Magazine? You better get to checking it out, its free in print and online and full of readers stories from around the Northwest. We do summer and winter issues to keep the fun, check out our events listing on the inside back cover of each issue. The cool part about what we are doing is that YOU can be in the magazine as we treat it as "YOUR" magazine, whatever you want to see we print it.....ride/event/technical/how to/closure info/legislative..etc etc.
Now, back to me. I'm not a salesman on any of the forums. I ride every snow or dirt every weekend I can. Usually local trails. I enjoy working on cars and helping friends make there sleds go faster than there buddies :) I have a daughter and a son, am currenly divorced for the past 4 years. I have a twin brother and 3 sisters. Growing up on a farm and my dad being an excavator for 35 years I know what hard work is. He always told me not to dig a ditch for the rest of your life adn that imo is so true......but I think that everyone should do something similar just so they know what its like to be knee deep in crap, wishing the day would end. Our goals are to be inspirational about all sports, tell the people about upcoming local events in the NW and to treat others as we wish to be treated. I was invited here by 89Sandman! Hope to have some fun, send me a PM or even call me sometime if you have any questions about the Magazine.
Welcome aboard Kent, thanks for joining.
For those of you that have not seen the magazine, please take the time to check it out. There are lots of reader written stories including a couple written by my very own Oregongirl.

My name is Larry, I live in Bend Oregon, just snowchecked a PRO RMK 800 155. I have been riding an 03 Polaris 800 Vertical Escape 159.
I'm hoping to find some new people to ride with next season, as my regular crew are losing interest it seems??
My wife also rides and we are often seen at 10 mile snow park camping in our 3 slide pickup camper with a camp fire going.
Hope to meet some of you.

Hello, I'm new here. been riding since 2004. learned, rebuilt, learned some more, rebuilt again an 89 sks 650 triple. then had an 02 700 sx viper piped and clutched(very fast). now have an 08 700 rmk 155, absolutely love this machine. I was only able to pull the sled out once this past winter and ride for about 20 minutes. I had the year before fuel in it, had used the stabil fuel stabilizer twice, once in spring of 2010 and again end of summer 2010. 1st question, can or will this hurt my injecters. I think i should pull the fuel. 2nd question, should i do it now or wait till fall, which one and why, i don't want to screw up my injecters. Also i have an 02 800 rmk 156 to rebuild, weither i by the parts and rebuild the motor or have it done, it is still over $1500. any suggestions.
thank you

get rid of it now and pump in some fresh, the longer it sits the more likely it is to gum something up. especially if you've put stabilizer in the same gas twice. wouldn't recommend ever even using last seasons fuel let alone from 2 seasons ago... store with 1/4 to half a tank and pump it out before you use it the first time and put in all new fresh fuel, small cost to save you hundreds in repair costs!!!

Hello,
My name is Jim Smith, I live here in Bend, Oregon since 1970. I first began riding shortly after arriving. Started racing snowmobiles in 72 and retired from racing in 1998. Got into the vintage snowmobiles in 99 and still partisapate in that.
I bought a 2000 RMK in 2009 and it was then that I really started doing some riding here in Central Oregon. I just recently upgraded by buying a 2003 Vert Escape 800. Much better!!
hi jim.lets go ride today:)new snow and sunny.
