Winter Storm Warning

*NOAA Issue Date:12/29/2011 03:54:00 AM ...a strong Pacific front will bring rain followed by heavy snow and strong gusty winds to the Cascade Mountains... ...Winter Storm Warning in effect from noon Friday to midnight Pst Friday night for the Cascades of Lane County... The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from noon Friday to midnight Pst Friday night. * timing...heavy rain beginning Thursday afternoon will change to snow around noon Friday then continue through Friday evening. * snow levels...increasing to 7000 to 8000 ft Thursday evening will drop to 5000 ft midday Friday and to 3000 ft Friday afternoon or evening. * snow accumulations...12 to 18 inches. * ridge level winds...strong southwesterly winds of 40 to 50 Mph will shift to the west Friday afternoon. Gusts up to 60 or 70 Mph are possible on exposed peaks. Precautionary/preparedness actions... a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight... Food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

You never know around Southern Oregon Area! You can never tell until it happens around here. I would hope so.... But I have lost a lot of hope here lately. I'm sure after the first of the year... We'll get some!

From what I am seeing on NOAA, this is supposed to happen BUT it is hitting the west side of the cascades. I am seeing very little happening on the east side.

Its all supposed to be up North for the most part too. Down here in S. Or the heavy precip is supposed to come to when the snow level is above 7k. Boo!! Lets hope not though!

Its doing nothing but pouring on our way up right now. I'll let you know if the snow dancing worked!

Poured hard up by Lake of the woods temps were 43. I don't see it unless it drops temp quick. high 50s in the Rogue valley. This year sucks. I need some depression meds. My snowmobile is mad at me and I don't know what do do with myself.... Good thing for collage football!

The front aint even in So Oregon yet so the temps and precip havent changed; but they will overnite: Everybody will be happy by Friday PM cause its gonna dump major: especially the more north ya go...:eek:

It is supposed to dump feet up north. Crater Lake/Diamond Lake is calling for 2 inches.
