I just finished assembling the Mountain Max, put a new secondary clutch in and changed the chain case oil, greased all the fittings front, rear and steering. Seems to run strong, sounds wicked with the triple pipes and silencers. I've never run it in snow so this is a shakedown run. If it drives up the ramps under its own power, (which it didn't last time, not sure if it was just the clutch but it sounded weak too.) I'll head up towards bachelor and park somewhere that looks good. Probably somewhere with a lot of people so I can get a tow back to the truck if it falls apart lol. I work until at least 11 so it will be early afternoon at best.

Fail. Seems to run great but the belt is too far gone for the primary to get a good grip on it. I was unable to drive it into the back of my truck up the ramp. I propped the track up and ran it up to speed, both the primary and secondary are shifting and backshifting properly. It's getting up high on the primary, not sure why it won't drive up when there's a load on it.

Ok so I was driving up the ramp too slowly, needed a bit of momentum to keep the primary engaged I guess. Drove it up today no problem so heading to the snow now for a test run.

Sled worked great today, no major complaints. Sure do love that triple sound! This is going to be one heavy beast to muscle around. I'm on day 9 of P90x though so by the time the snow flies again I should be as strong and fit as superman!

Went out today for some more testing. I had 2 of 3 pilot jets plugged, previous owner just tightened up the choke cable until it idled. Now the MM flat out rips! Tough to beat the sound of triple pipes screaming! Snow was good in some spots...trails sucked though.

Anybody interested in riding this weekend out of Dutchman, maybe run up to Moon? My brother is coming over from Boise for Christmas with his new to him Summit 1000. Never even ridden it yet so even though conditions are lame we're going anyway. I work Saturday morning but we might head out Saturday afternoon. Probably Christmas day too and maybe Monday. Man; we NEED some new staging areas! Dutchman only holds maybe 30 rigs. (if that) Wanoga and Edison is too skinny on snow (this year) They should give us "Swampy Lakes" exclusively. Trade for Wanoga. Cross Country skiiers don't NEED as much snow cover.
years ago everything was open to everybody.rode swampy lakes alot.but every few years cry baby skiers get more areas shut down and then not many use it.

all those area's are too low in elevation, the only real option is to expand dutchman. I like to ride early season and late season, it's the only place in our area you can do so. I only park at Wanoga once or twice a year...

Great day out riding yesterday with a few of the BendDualSport crew, inadvertently. I'm unloading my sled in Dutchman and I see a guy on my right backing his sled out of his Sprinter on the same RevArc ramp as mine. It gets hung up so I walk over and help him drag it out. Lo and behold it's Kurt! Man takes amazing photos and writes great reports, also has the sickest KTM 690 enduro West of the Mississippi. However this moment is the first time we've met. The guy parked just left of me is unloading and turns out to be Adam, one of Tommy's friends. Another guy, Casey, just behind us is unloading a MountainCat from a trailer and then Tommy rolls up. Group of 5 to ride suddenly!

We get down into the Kwolh bowl, out of the sunshine, and Adam says, "Woah that's pretty weird how your hyfax wraps all the way around."

Turns out the screw at the front that holds the hyfax in place sheared and allowed it to walk backwards and create a custom full wrap hyfax type setup...
Pulled it out, eventually. Cut some grooves in it so we could safety wire it in place. Beat it back on to the rails with a piece of cinder. Wired it up and it was good to go for the rest of the day!

Back to riding and I find a very icy spot. Wish I would have held on and tried to whip it around and ride it back down but I bailed like a sissy.

I've got about a ten inch bar riser and it just rotated down flat. Yanked it back up, held the gas wide open and pulled it twice and rode out! I was happy to be riding a 15 year old sled in this moment.

Kurt heads back to meet some friends to go skiing, and the 4 of us take off through the trees for a few hours. 3 of us are new to riding in the mountains, so there's a stuck sled every now and then. Fixed the pull cord on Casey's sled. I lost my spot tracker. So sore I take 600 mg of Ibuprofen with my beer when I get home. Stellar day out in the snow even without a foot of fresh. Riding was great off the beaten path. The beaten path was very beaten however.

Turned out to be a great ride, no tracks in kwolh when we got there, lava rollers were untracked, a bit steeper and rockier then normal but still tons of fun. Everyone was troopers and didn't complain about me taking them to not so rookie places. :cool:

Hey guys, it's Casey, just got signed up. Those are some nice pics. I was gonna post up some of the ones I took, unfortunately the SD card in my camera got corrupted somehow and they are all gone. Lame. I had a couple nice panoramics too.
Even crazier.... I met Adam this summer when I randomly got paired with him and a buddy while golfing at Eagle Crest. Now I can't go anywhere without running into him. The guy gets around. :)

Quick update, rode out of Wanoga today. Insanely deep, pinned wide open just to keep moving in the meadows. Towed a Subaru out of the parking lot before I even unloaded my sled. Trail from Wanoga to Dutchman was great.

My girlfriend gave me a GoPro for Christmas and this is the first video I uploaded. The one from the meadow needs editing. Also must come up with a way to see the red light so I know it's recording. Missed some good stuff and recorded a few minutes of troubleshooting Tommy's sled. Live and learn. Anyway this gives you an idea of what it looks like up there. And who doesn't love the sound of triple pipes?

Awesome day, perfect temps, clear, no wind, and about 8" if fresh on top of a crusty layer that your feet, skis and track could break through. Definitely worth riding.

LOL what kind of shape was it in after that? I was able to pull mine off the tree a bit and right straight out. Oh and the good news is I caught it on the GoPro but unfortunately did not shut the camera off so instead of being a decent 6 minute clip it has another 6 minutes of my helmet laying in the snow looking at nothing. I need to get some video editing software and then I can trim the clip and post it.

Adam cacked his belly pan and maybe broke his bumper too? The snow was fairly deep so we had to dig down to a firmer layer and make a ramp down so he could back it up.
Anyone want to ride friday? I promise I will take you somewhere where you'll be able to get stuck.

Yeah it sucks to break stuff but luckily I'll still have only a couple hundred bucks in the sled after it's fixed. Found some chain case parts on ebay, but I'm going to pull mine apart to se what I need before I buy anything.
You guys remember that bungee tow rope I talked about? It was 75% off of $8 so I paid $2 for it at Repeat Performance. Should work well and keep tension on the rope next time someone needs to get towed out.

It rained for about 36hrs earlier in the week, only snowed about 6" since then and has been very windy. Some areas are blue ice with no new snow...even if it was 50 degrees it wouldn't soften this snow up, only cure is more snow!
And If your not able to get face shots it's not pow in my book! ;)

WoooHoo! Another beautious day eh? If any of you are headed up late morning; keep an eye out for Pat (Patron on Sledspace) on an 05' Summit 162" . He's driving from Eugene, and has never ridden out of Dutchman. I don't know him yet, but thought I'd mention it as a courtesy . I guess he got a late start this morning and won't be there till 11am.

Wow; pretty bad. Arrived at 10 am. Frozen but with 4 inches of dry snow on top. By Noon, it was getting worse. Sun was melting the surface, and big ice chunks started forming. Made the skis sound like riding on gravel. Lots of surprises while hanging a ski. Almost got thrown off a couple times from ice grabbing the carbides. Still had alot of fun though. I'll post video later.

Well; I was gonna post a video; but I'm such a bonehead that I didn't realize that the fisheye lens on my GoPro Hero2 is 170 degrees. Therefore with my great innovative idea of mounting my GoPro looking backwards from my visor; the 12 minute ride to Moon video only shows the top of my helmet like an eclipse and a nice sunny sky. But on the bright side; I was able to get it loaded on to my computer. Maybe I can use a few seconds for filler when I edit all my clips together. Drrrrrrr. :(

i'll be up there tomorrow with my brother and a couple friends. you guys see a newer quad cab cummins with a black inclosed they said they'll be up there around 10. hit them up to go ride with there names are todd and becky. awesome people. fun to ride with. tell them i told you about them if i dont get up there in time.

Yes , I just got the Skidoo last week for $1000 with 2k on the odom. Needed some love but I run an auto shop in bend so it wasnt difficult. Heading out tomorrow to elk lake with the wife for her Bday.

Went out yesterday from Wanoga to Elk Lake Lodge and back. Snow was soft and mushy and trails to dutchman were smooth. Dutchman to Elk Lake was woop track. LOL . Took the wife for bday lunch. It was sunny and warm . Thinking of heading out today but not sure.

More set up then I expected, bachelor is way better right now. And they plowed so you have to park in the woods and ride up, kinda of a hassle. We hiked around and dug out the hot springs and soaked for a bit which was cool.
saving pennys for memorial weekend ride:)
