Here is where we stopped. I do believe its Car hill that we are on. Doesn't look so step in back ground but it is. Also the snow is over knee deep!!!! Up a little over 7,000ft..... You can hear the guys at the top of Pelican that where in the bowl and rode up to the top.

It is closer to Klamath Falls. I have never been in the bowl but I have taken the trail to the top of Pelican and their are awesome 360 degree views from up there. And he is right, from the top at least, the bowl is VERY steep. If you look at a map, you would take Hwy 140 west from Klamath Falls and then park in the Lake of the Woods sno-park to get there.

Not exactly.......We park on the West Side road (runs North & South off 140) and West Side Rd is at the base of Pelican Butte (east side).
Also its less then half the distance then it is from the meadow to ride towards Pelican (Depending where you drop in at from west side rd).
So if you live in Klamath, it is easier to park on west side rd. Saves gas in your rig (because you only have to go over Doak MT) and most importantly save gas in your snowmobile for more play-a-round time!!! People that dont know the area too well would park at the meadow to ride toward Pelican instead of parking off of West Side Road to ride.
I do plan on going there again this coming monday!!! The Bowl is AWESOME......

Nice pictures Ford428CJ, sorry I missed the trip, if I don't make it his year we can try next. Have FUN!.... Phazer_07
People that trail ride, can't get off the seat, can't sidehill much, Can't ride long distance but want to see the bowl from the bottom, There is a way in as 428cj describes, I have made several trips in that way with people with restrictions but don't try it without a guide! The trails are never groomed even though both trails that go up off the upper spur were sno-cat trails originally. One goes all the way through to the eagle road. There are old train track grades that are some times used. Most of the lava flows have a way in the bottom and a way out the top..but ride with somebody for the first time, there are heat vents big enough for a couple school busses! This is the time of year that can be done..its beautiful, but be careful! Awesome pics, anymore from the last trip?

Movin is right! You need to go with someone that knows the area well!
On Wednesday the 2nd of April we went to the bowl. But you need a decent machine to get you there and the trail in isn't marked. Got to do some climbing to get to it (east part of the ridge). Its not for the light trail rider. But it is well worth the ride to see it. The powder is over knee deep on me in the bowl!!!
Getting out is easy. You leave the northeast end of the Bowl. The trail is marked in the beginning (with ribbons) but no markers after a while. Feels like your boon docking. Which I really love to do. Go with someone that knows the area well!
I do have pictures of our ride this last Wednesday of the Bowl. I will post them here soon. We plan on riding this Monday up there again....
