Is that a 700 V-MAX? They had the largest gain in horsepower of any sled by just adding pipes! If I remember right Randy had nitrous on his old sled, Judging your hymark pic it looks like his new one has a little extra something too! Ash creek is my favorite area, I wish it was closer!

Nope! That 2000 Yamaha V-Max is my Street Bike. I do have a 2000 Yamaha 700 Mountain Max for the snow.LOL I have pipes and stingers with Simmon Ski's.

Randy has his super charger with NOS. We didnt get to see the NOS in action but the Supercharger was waaaay coooool.......

I do love ash creek and the serounding area as well. So many good places to ride in Southern Oregon!!!! Hands down.....

No doubt! Ash creek would just be another bowl without the back bowl, ridges and timber to play in!
Same for Pelican..its way more than a bowl! Something for everyone and the whole group comes back happy.
Back to the Yammie..You look tall in the picture with little man ( great kid ) are risers next?

I'm 6'4" and I think 3" risers or so are in the works for sure!!! I love the sled and its a far cry from the 89 Mach1 that I use to ride LOL. I'll have to post a pic of me on it @ Ash Creek. I look like I belong to the Addams Family on the ole Ski Doo LOL.

Alan (AKA Little Man) is not so little for a 5 year old kid. He is well over waist tall on me!!! NO JOKE.... He came out BIG (10lbs 8 oz) and I think he will leave this world BIG LOL. He is an AWESOME kid that is always happy. We took him out for the first time when he was 1 1/2 Years old. Now he wants to ride his own sled LOL. I let him run the throttle for Daddy. Soon he will learn on an ole 1984 John Deere Trail Fire 440. Then once mastered I have the 500SP for him!!!

Hi Ford428CJ
No you are not the only one, I have a new/used 2007 Yamaha Phazer I just got it used this year. I am starting to get to like it now, it's a little tippy and I have fallen off (I am getting old) a few times but not lately, ha.

My neighbor is a photographer and he took these pictures the last trip to Mecicine Lake: http://www.eyefetch.com/profile-images.aspx?user=Jerry_I&gallery=14953

I am with you I like them all but for some reason I have had at least three Yamaha's. I like the four stroke sound on the Phazer and I don't smell like a gas station when I get home unless I am following a bunch of two strokes, ha. I have seen some good buys lately and not so sure I would not have ended up with a Polaris or Skidoo if I had seen them before I bought the Phazer.

Also the new Ski Doo's for 09 dont smell anymore. They are Direct Injected (or I should say the 600 is). And very fuel efficient. But they clam not to have the 2 stroke smell. Now that is cooooool.......

My son is coming up this afternoon from Sparks, he loves to ride and I might take you up on your offer. Are you going to meet at the Great Meadows? What time are you going? I don't ride real extreme and the sled my son would be on is an old Arctic Cat so we can't climb to big of hills. If you travel the trails and stop at some play areas we can either play or watch you. How many in your group?
If we come up we will be in a green Jeep Wrangler TJ towing a two place Triton trailer.
Thanks Phazer_07

Nope. Like you, I was also feeling like the Masked Man here, but glad to discover it's not true. (you can clock out now, Tonto.)

Have 4 Yami's in the family currently, and have sold 3 in the last season. In no way am I a brand-extremist, but our sleds have all been Yami's for various reasons. Our summer motorsports toys are not Yamahas.

My thought is that there are not more Yamaha sleds in Central Oregon because of poor dealer knowledge and support. I have been a motorsports dealer previously in Oregon for more than a decade (in a different segment than sleds entirely), so I think I know how critical dealer support is to market penetration in a local / regional market. Not happening for Yamaha anywhere around here currently, in my personal opinion.

I also feel that the weight and 4 strokes scare off people! Nothing wrong with a Yame. I love mine after riding it but its a 2 stroke 700. I think you are right for the most part. They do make a very good sled in my book. Ranks up there with Ski Doo's........JMHO

I bought the 2008 Yami Phazer mtx. I hated the thing the first ride. It was so tippy after coming off of a zr600. Now I hate to ride anything else. It is so fun. Just like riding a motorcycle. It is amazing how responsive the 4 stroke is.
This sled is not a trail sled it is a very active sled. You have to groove when you ride.
I don't think the fuel economy is there like they tout but when I ride I ride hard and am usually the one breaking trail.
Phazer 07 do you find it hard to get the end of the track off of the ground when jumping? I can only recall a few times actually getting it off the ground even though it feels like you are 10 feet off that darn thing just drops down and keeps touching.
I can tell you though it is one of the hardest sleds I have ridden to get stuck, however once you get it burried it is one of the hardest to get unstuck.

LOL I know what you mean about getting stuck LOL It does good but once you bury it.......OUCH. Its a little different riding a mountain sled then a trail sled. The more I ride it.......The more I like it LOL. I wont go back to a trail sled!

Hi sildoc
I agree with all you said, I don't do a lot of jumping (I am 65 years old) but I did do a little for my neighbor who took the pictures earler in this thread. I rode it last Saturday and I fell over again because it is tippy and I got off balance when I got partly sideways trying to go up an icy hill. It's a lot of fun to ride like you say but you have to watch it, not so hard for you young fellows who can get from one side to the other in a wink of an eye but when you get older it's hard to move that fast and you can get into trouble fast. I still like the sled and it's pretty peppy for a 500cc 4 stroke. I like the sound and the rap that comes from the tail pipe. It's much heaver than it looks and hard to get it back upright at times unless you have help. Last ride I forgot to put the scratcher down and before I figured out what was going on the hyfax stuck to the track and I can see some heavy wear near the middle of the slides. Next season I will replace the hyfax before I go out on the first run or I might do it when I summerize it this year. Get some scratchers if you don't have them yet.

I know it's an old post but if you guys still have your sleds you might try this if you havn't already. In the front of the skid the limit strap comes in the middle of the 5 holes that it can go in. I tried several different settings but when I let it out 2 holes to make it the longest it could be it seemed to get rid of the tippy feeling by unloading the ski pressure but I can still turn on a dime or even better now since I'm not tipping over! It now feels more stable than my 800RMK. I also took off the sway bar which initially makes it feel even more tippy sitting still but on the trail lets the suspension work and now stops putting you up on one ski right into the corners on the trail. It works ten fold better in the powder too! Also I put my ski's out 1.5" per side by unbolting the 14mm bolt on the ski's and moving both spacers to the inside or middle of the sled which moves the ski's out 1.5" each side. I haven't tried it yet with the ski's out but it seems it would make it even more stable. I'm also 250lbs and still have my MTX's front shocks set at one firmer than the softest setting and the rear at firmest and never bottom out like alot of people have said about the Phazer. If in spring I start to bottom out I'll move the slide bolt right behind the bogey wheel that controls the spring back to the rear bolt hole thats just behind the wheel on the rail. That's supposed to reduce the leverage that the rails have over the spring and firm it up a little more. If any of these things help let me know or if you have any tips I'm always looking..............Maby you know how to get turbo like power without the turbo like price????

We were Cat people until the late 90s. We purchased new sleds about every 5 years or so. Our dealership sold Cat and Yammis (SWern CO). Back then (early 2000s / late 90s) we, and the dealer, were not overly excited about Cat's Powder Specials and mountain cats. We took the risk and tried the new-ish Yammi Mountain Max series. We were delighted. As a matter of fact, my father and I still have our 2000 MMxs (I have the 700, he has the 600). Another fun thing with the MMxs is that they had a pretty strong aftermarket following. What kept us in the Yamaha community is the reliability we have experienced with the Yamahas. In the last ten years of ownership, we have never fouled a plug and have not even replaced the belts on both machines. They always started easy and performed well. Our Cats were always more temperamental. When I get back into riding this year, I suppose I will get my MM up to Oregon and ride it stock for a while. The newer sleds will blow me away, but it is still a capable machine. I am still quite interested in Yammis and will probably stick with them. However, I am kinda shocked at how much $$ sleds have gone up in the last 5 to 10 years (time I was not riding/in the snowmobiling community). I am a smaller fellow, and after doing some reading online over the last few days, I think that a supercharged Phazer MTX would actually suit me just right. Besides, I enjoy not being in the "me-too!" crowd and having something unique.

hey now dont forget about the 90's exciters/phazers. lol i got a 90 exciter. goint keep the same 121 track but going to put a 3/4 or 1" under it for help with traction. if any one has riden one they know by what i mean by no traction they have none. they are a great sled plenty of power to get aroundif you ditch the stock carbs. well that was one of the problems i had with the one i had at the time. if i can find the pics i will post them. i took all the stickers off but left the one on the front that says exciter. and bought a red low window. it runs good enough if it got traction it would wheelie all the time.
