I don't believe that there is anything that can be done about this due to the fact that they are grooming trails for the skiers to use. I do believe that they have special permission to take the groomer through the area. Do I think this is right, No. Is there anything we can do about it, I don't think so. But I am more than happy to talk to the forest service about it if you would like.
Man that sucks...dutchmen just keeps getting smaller and smaller. Not like the snowmobiles are tearing up anything...I dont get it
If the USFS did a NEPA to open Dutchman, they need to do a full NEPA to close it..I know nothing about Dutchman but if the bad guys can sue for improper NEPA on a project, Why can't the good guys sue for improper NEPA on closing one to Motor Vehicles??
Yes there is an area that has been re-organized because of the mixed use by XC Skiers and Snowmobilers. It was bound to happen in this area. Moon Country Snowmobile club, Sisters Snowmobile club and Mount Bachelor all groom this area. Bachelor grooms for the xc skiers and the other two are for snowmobiles. Moon country Snowmobile club is very active with this area and working with the forest service. Sadly the xc skiers and other environmentalists are also work this area hard. In the past we (the smnowmobilers) have been a weak force because most snowmobilers are better at complaining than writing letters. Get involved with your local clubs OSSA and SAWS so we can all work together to help prevent the loss of our riding areas. There is no time like the present to change our direction and be herd.
