View Full Version : RMK vs M series
Im looking at getting myself a new sled for next season. I have been looking at both the RMK's and the M series sleds. Though I am not sure which to one to get. Both seem to have pros and cons. So I was wondering what you all think. Which is a better sled??? Oh ya Im looking at 06' and newer. Any imput would be helpful...
Thanks

absolutley love my 07 M8. put the black diamond bumper kit on it last week and it eats the pow even better now than before. one of the most important things to me when i buy a sled is reliability. a lot of the places we ride are miles from anywhere and towing sleds back is nearly impossible. the M's have been bullet proof since they came out. the 07 and newer rmks are also an awesome sled. thier just not a cat:)
Go with the dealer ...Good recommendations first, do you like him? and location. We had a test ride at Lake of the Woods..Do that too, or go rent one somewhere!

As far as my dealer...I really dont like any of them in this area. If I do buy new it will be out of state. I am good friends with a dealer in WA. I have had the opportunity to ride both the RMK and the M series many time. Both feel good riding. I know alot more about the M series than I do the RMK. Just wonder what you guys thought.
The Dragon needed some work to stop the dive and roll feeling..tuning or different front skid shock. The M felt heavy..taller riser, ski's go from there. The M's build easy and make good power. The Dragon has turbo kits..The end result of any new sled depends on your type of riding, how you fit on a machine..how it feels to you.
i love my rmk IQ chassis... I have only ridden a m7 once and it felt more like a cush cruiser to me compared to my IQ. as movin said it all depends on your riding style.. my riding style is aggressive and trying to catch air everywhere i can and haul *** everywhere.. i really beat myself up when I ride... that why I like the more radical feeling and responsiveness of the IQ... but it basically comes down to what you really want.. what is most comfortable to you...also anything can be tweaked to your liking... bottom line.. you are the one riding it all the time... just remember that and choose accordingly... just my $.02

Do you have the 700 RMK? My only complaint is vibration, which I am told can be helped with some SLP motor mounts. Other than that little annoyance it is a sweet sled.
Mt Man - Mine is for sale if you are interested.

Funny, I have a 05 700 RMK and now A 08 600 RMK shift and I never had a vibration, hmmm... As for the squeking sound that's normally the belt being to tight.
I like the new IQ chassic, it's easier to carve and move around with. It's almost like riding a motorcycle. If you decide to get a RMK that has the WE shocks, ditch them!!!! The new IQ's 08 800's with WE will have a 30% give before the shock will actually start working.
Good Luck :)
actually the squeak ( actually kinda more like a creak) is from my bars everytime I turn it started happening after I put the risers on.. they are only 3" risers so I hope that they arent putting too much stress on my steering shaft....

600HO would be fine for the small guy (no offence to anyone here). But big guys (like myself) need a 700+ or bigger. I'm 6'4" and 240lbs. So make sure you conceder that when buying a sled. Also depending on your experience level of riding. JMHO
