View Full Version : Riding Is Awesome
Riding now. Over the hood in places. Sometimes hard to even find the trail.

Just my ride. You know you got to represent.....
Pics from today. Kwolh crater and surroundings.
We thought we would make our own route to the top of Kwolh, up and around through the trees. After climbing and traversing around, it opened up and I thought we could hammer the rest of the way up. Which is when I saw a little hole in snow. I hit the brakes and the front right ski broke through the snow and buried the sled up to the headlight, with the ski hanging 5 feet off the ground in a hole. When I stood u[p my leg broke through, which is when I realized most of the sled was on top of a natural snow cave, one of the infamous Kwolh vents.
It was not going to extract easily, as the ski was flopped up and would be impossible to pull back. We didn't want to bounce the sled around or do too much digging as we were worried the hole might open up further and really swallow the sled. Long story short, we basically made a modified block and tackle and pulled the sled back slightly. We then did a full 360 roll to the right, slowly and carefully rolling the sled out of the hole. Making the whole operation super fun, gas was leaking out the whole time. I think when I came off I hit the choke somehow, opening it up.
Pics attached (my friend Keith is in the green).
one time i got of my sled and stepped on a covered vent and went through up to my neck.thought i was a goner for a sec.

When I rode that area regularly, those holes used to FREAK ME OUT!! They would just come out of no where.........
I was watching some of the helmet cam video from yesterday and I saw vent holes all over where we were riding. I have attached a single frame of video that has two of them in it (or one giant one). I never even noticed these as I was riding by them. Still worth it and would ride it again, would just watch for them a little more closely.
