View Full Version : Mini Review: Contour HD Helmet Cam
I have been using the Contour HD 720P High Definition helmet cam for a few months now and it is awesome. It is super easy to use, comes with a flat mount and goggle mount and is lightweight and unobtrusive. The footage quality is outstanding, and this is only the 720P version. For even greater definition there is a 1080P version available that would be nothing short of incredible. The battery life is great and the footage is captured on a min-SD card, so you can upgrade the capacity simply by installing a bigger card. A USB cable is used to interface with the camera, as well as for charging the battery. To help aid in setup you can turn on two lasers that show exactly where the camera is aimed, ensuring you know what you will be filming.

Here is a link to footage of cbrew325 wearing it on our trip out this weekend. You can see my head looking into it briefly about 2/3 of the way through. I will say that the hill that he slides down at about 30 seconds and tries to 4 times climb was super steep, he had no brakes at all. As much as he tried, the Dragon was no match for it. Cameras do funny things to perspective sometimes.

Change the resolution to 720P and expand it to full screen for full effect.

Cool video Ben!! Was the dragon a 155" ? Sounded like it needed more track :)
Yes, a 155". He would have loved more track. It was pretty steep, and deep mush. He was probably trenching a good 3 feet plus. The biggest problem was there was no way to really get any kind of run at it because you had to weave through trees. You were basically already on the slope before you could give it anything. Even then there were a few whoops at the bottom. If you are familiar with the Wanoga area it is the face of the hill that the sanding shed is on, facing towards Wanoga. To put it in perspective he climbed the steep face of Kwolh three times later that day and had no issues. Hamburger hill killed him though.
thats a steep one forsure out of the pit.:)

Days like that I love my 162 Just a little more bite. His trench looked deep on video. Very nice day :)

Needed a little more speed for that one. It's hard to avoid trenching when you can't punch it till you are already climbing. I'd not recommend anyone try going down this hill in spring-like snow conditions.
I know the area and found it on google earth. is there a trail at the bottom or do you pick through the trees if it's too mushy to get back up?
you can boondock from the trail to get to it.east side of the cinder pit.

Hey Ben, It looks like the vid was cut and edited? Does the cam come with soft ware or how are you doing that?

Ben likes to roll iMovie style. Of course, you need a Mac for that.
I did use iMovie, not that you can really tell from my rough edit. The camera does come with basic editing software, that you also need to configure the camera.

No doubt about it! I thought you guys might enjoy it, like I do.
Ford, you might have to hit the snow one more time to help me figure this 1080 thing out!!
