Well I'm back home from Cancun. I left very early Sunday morning and boy it was muggy and warm when we arrive and of course we weren't use to it. We arrive at our resort; Azul Beach Hotel. A very nice place for family to come to and the service is so overwhelming. I can't say enough about this place, if and when we go back down there, that's the place I want to go to! There were three pools, 2 for everyone and one design for kids, beach right there, our room to the beach about 1 - 2 minutes. Easy access to almost everything there. This is an all-inclusive resort. If you head that way, check it out!
OKAY! now about our journey's.....
Monday started as just hanging around the resort and relaxing around the pool, and the outside bar around the pool, that evening after dinner we decided to head to the tequila lounge and Jim not a fan of tequila actually tried some tequila and finally found one he can drink after trying some that wasn't so good to him. On the way home at the airport I actually bought a bottle of that tequila; Agavero, it's more of a liqueur.
So Tuesday we went to see the ruins of Tulum, needless to say our guide didn't give us an hour to see everything there, I really don't think that he has overcome the fact that he busted his mirror thru a construction site driving like a mad man, they are crazy drivers down there, enough that Rachael got sick. So we left there and headed to place called alltournative, road bikes to a underground river and at the same time got cleanse from a medicine man, then back to the bicycle rack and then to our first zipline, easy slow, then onto the second zipline and it was a bit faster, that was OK, BUT when we got to the third we had to climb this structure that was about 90ft off the ground and with 12 people climbing I WANTED OFF, and I was afraid of heights to top that off, that tower was swaying. Talk about flying on that line, I was shaking from it and that tower, thank goodness that was over. So we go over and switch into our swimsuits and head to another underground river (more of a sink hole) and the water was crystal clear, he wanted everyone to jump in, I chickened out. So we snorkel in there and Jim lost his so I gave him mine and just swimmed around looking at everything in there, beautiful. We left there for another one that didn't quite impress me but it was relaxing. After that we had lunch and talk about the food, OMG it was good, The hibiscus flower makes a wonderful drink too. All the food was all made fresh right there. So here back to the resort was the weather started to get bad, needless to say we had to power went out a few times that evening, the wind blew thunder, lighting, and it just poured!
Wednesday Jim and I went to the isla Mujeres (Island of women), the weather was crappy that day, windy and it rained while we were there, and we and another couple WERE the only Americans there! We were on a turd boat full of senior Mexicans, Yeah they talked about us, but I just smiled, lol... when we got there we just hanged under a palm tree trying to stay dry and finally gave up and paid $40 to ride a 125cc ATV, GUTLESS from mine 400cc 2 stroke. We got to parts of the island and we know where the sewage plant and the garbage dump is now. We took pictures there at the lighthouse and a few on a way, even got a picture of a lady out on a zipline that braked to soon, yep she was in the middle just hanging there.
So after we got back Rachael's family started to show up and we all had dinner at one of the restaurants, they didn't understand a thing on the menu, and wanted to know where the tacos and enchilada's since we were at a Mexican lounge, lol... Needless to say some trusted us and enjoyed there menu, for the rest of them, they went back to the room and got room service.
Thursday the big day... the wedding. It was in the late afternoon so we just hanged around the pool and slowed started to get ready and the wedding went off very well, lots of people watched Kenny and Rachael tie the knot, there was three wedding during that week.
Each night the resort had some kind of show at the pool bar and it was very entrained. I hope that I haven't bore ya, not much of a story teller. For missing the snow, this trip was very enjoyable, and I think we going to do this again for sure, may even check out the 6 bedroom that they inquire next door to the resort.
Here are only a few of pictures, when I get more from Kenny and Rachael I'll post those.
