Edison is one of my favorite places to ride motorcycles.

So, I'm thinking of snowmobiling it this weekend and hitting
Kwohl Butte, Sheridan Mountain and then riding the
non-groomed trail due West (146) past Lava Lakes and
then on to Elk Lake Resort for Beers, Burger and Fries!

Anyone done this ride? Good stuff?

Looks technical. I like a challenge, but my Wife may not dig it. (Maybe I'll leave her home!) :-)

I bet the snow conditions are pretty good...

The trail straight west from 146 is hard to keep in sight, was htere a couple weeks ago, started from the west end on the road that goes near Lava Lake, was very hard to find once you get on the trail, GOOD LUCK

The map says "Very easy to loose trail !" and maclac85 says "very hard to find once you get on the trail" and from my experience I totally agree. I haven't tried it in the past two years, but previously navigation on this route was a serious challenge in the best of conditions. Whoever put up the (very few) trail markers in past years was apparently only semi-conscious. I hope they've done better recently.

My suggestion is to attempt this only starting in the morning, with good visibility, and taking all your navigation tools and knowledge with you. The actual trail is not nearly as straight as depicted on the map, and the timber is heavy and the short slopes are steep in places.

When you get to Elk Lake Resort you will have earned the Beers, Burger and Fries!

That would be a good candidate to get on the GPS file for the Bachelor area.

Looking at the MapSource Topo it looks like this follows the "Edison Ice Cave Trail".

Thanks for the replies guys.

Sounds like this isn't a "Wife Ride."

I'll go with the guys and bring my GPS and Map!

Sorry for the late reply....this one got by me.

For next year...I copied the trail from the map to my GPS and it still took us close to 3.5 hours to get to the Hwy for the Kwoll Butte. This was my first time down the ???Trail??? Most of the trip was in heavy timber and was simply following what the GPS said was a trail. Every once in a while you may even find a trail marker if you look close. It's a fun ride if you like to boon dock in the tree's.
