View Full Version : bachelor today
road at bachelor today, i thought it was pretty good, moon had some fresh powder and the trails were awesome. did anybody else ride there today
I did, with my family... Was one of the first ones out of the parking lot at the park formerly known as Wanoga, 0730. I noticed that the approximately 6" of fresh on the way up settled to about 2-3' on the way back down at 1400. Moon and the surrounding areas were awesome sticky snow for climbing. I probably passed you somewhere along the way. Had some chili cheese fries at Elk Lake Resort for lunch, Yum!
A beautiful day for Bachelor.

Left with a party of four from Dutchman around 5:00. It was dumping snow and we were the only cars in the lot. Rode up towards Tumalo and over to the 160 jct with FRESH powder all the way and could not see another track anywhere. The snow just got deeper as we rode off trail from the 160 jct towards trail 8. There was at least 4-6 inches on the trail and an easy 12-16 inches off trail in the meadows and all the way up to Moon Mountain. The best part was it just kept snowing all night! There was around three inches on the trailers when we got back to Dutchman at 8:30. It should be a great week for riding in Central Oregon.

you guys are so lucky to ride up moon i have yet to ride all the way up it maybe this year i will get to. does anyone know how the top is? does it go straight up or what them ones that have kind of a lip at the top scare me let me know please.
the top of moon is for experianced riders only.it drops off on the other side.and there aint much room to stop.plus some days the top can be icey:eek:hate to see anybody get hurt up there.
I saw a sled at the local shop that crested Moon. In fact, I think it was the shop managers. There wasn't much left of it, or the tree it hit when it took off down the other side.
